      Google Voice Call Forwarding Instructions

      Instructions for activating and deactivating call forwarding with Google Voice.

      How to Set Up Call Forwarding for Google Voice
        • 1: Log In to your Google Voice account.
          • Go to the Google Voice website: Visit voice.google.com. 
          • Sign in: Use your Google account to sign in. If you don't have an account, you’ll need to create one.
        • 2: Link Your Existing Phone Numbers Access settings: 
          • Click on the gear icon (⚙️) in the top right corner to open settings. 
          • Click on "Linked numbers": In the settings menu, find the “Linked Numbers” section. 
          • Add a number: Click on "New Linked Number" to add your mobile phone, home phone, or any other number you want to receive calls on. 
        • 3: Verify the number: You’ll receive a verification call or text to the linked number. Follow the prompts to confirm.
          • IMPORTANT: Do this with your Account Manager to ensure the code is being received and verified. Since you are not forwarding to a number you own, it will be sent to your Signpost Account/Forwarding number. We will relay the code over the phone or you can have it texted to you through our Messaging Hub. 

      ***It is important to note that Google Voice and Signpost have unique conditions for your forwarding options. Google Voice operates in a Simultaneous Ring set up. There are three different plans through Google Voice, Free, Standard and Premiere. 

      • If you have the Standard and Premiere plans, you have the option to turn on or off the simultaneous ring. 
      • If you have the Free plan, you do not have the option to turn off the simultaneous ring.


      What is a Simultaneous Ring?

      When someone calls your Google Voice number, all of your linked phone numbers will ring simultaneously. This simultaneous ring will apply for 25 seconds to each phone attached to your Google Voice number.


      Signpost prides ourselves on answering your calls promptly but there can be waiting times. If the live receptionist or yourself do not pick up in that 25 second ring window it will automatically forward to your Google Voice Mailbox.
